Flu season is upon us. Please remember the district policy regarding illness.  A student must be excluded from school for 24 hours after a fever of 100 degrees or more and/or vomiting has subsided.  If your child is ill, please keep them home to avoid the spread of illness in school.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Student absenteeism is a major issue in schools.  Good attendance at school has a strong impact on a student’s academic success starting in kindergarten and continuing through high school.  Families play a crucial role in making sure that students get to school each day.  Please click on the link to access a flyer created for families by Attendance Works.

Andover Central High School is proud to announce the selection of three people to the Andover Jaguar Hall of Fame with induction to be held during the 2017-2018 school year. The firstinductee is Nicki (Armagost) Sylvester. Armagost was a 2009 graduate of ACHS and led the Jaguars to their first and only state softball championship in 2009. While at Central she was a multi all-league and all-state softball player along with being named the 2009 Kansas Gatorade Softball Player of the Year in Kansas. Following graduation, Sylvester went to University of the Pacific where she won numerous honors including the following:

Pacific Player of the year three times 2010-2012

NCFA All American:

  • 2012 - 3rd team

NFCA All Region:

  • 2011 - 2nd team
  • 2012 - 1st team

A four-year starter for Pacific, she received all conference honors every year from 2010 to 2013 in multiple positions. She was selected as Player of the week seven times.

Also selected for the hall of fame were patrons Terry and Mary Huelskamp. Mr. and Mrs. Huelskamp were instrumental in the establishment of Andover Central High School, having served on the 1998 Bond Committee. Mr. Huelskamp also served on the traditions committee which helped establish the name, mascot, school colors and fight song.

The Huelskamps put five children through Andover Central; Emily, Jill, Leo, Sarah and Megan. All of their children participated in sports and activities, and Terry and Mary were always supportive of those programs, helping with meals or doing construction work on ball fields. From 2003 to 2013, the Huelskamps made it a personal priority to help with landscaping of the school grounds. Numerous times they were seen coming up and cleaning, pruning and sprucing up the front of Andover Central the day before graduation so that it would look its best.

The Huelskamps didn’t know the word “No”. When asked to help out with post prom, serve on site council and sponsor a team dinner they always responded “Yes.” For their help in establishing and promoting Andover Central High School we are happy to name them to the second class of Jaguar Hall of Fame Inductee’s.

The date and time of the induction will be during the 2017-2018 school year and will be announced at a later time.
