ACHS is pleased to announce that Steven Robles, son of Gerardo Robles and Lordes Blasini, Elizabeth Snyder, daughter of Rich and Victoria Snyder, Ganon Steiner, son of Scott and Lori Steiner and Briauna Young, daughter of Kasey Young and Sara Crutchfield have been selected as a National Merit Semifinalists.
Over 1.5 million juniors in about 21,000 high Schools entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of programs entrants. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
Approximately 15,000 of the 16,000 students selected are expected to become finalists. Students will then continue the competition for some 2,500 scholarships to be given out next spring by writing an essay, providing extra-curricular accomplishments and other academic skills. The winners will be awarded National Merit Scholarships in the amount $2,500.
Scholarship winners will be announced April-July of 2020.
