About Me

Educational History:

I graduated from high school at Thomas, Oklahoma.

I graduated from college at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. I graduated

with a Masters from Central Oklahoma State University.

Degrees and Certifications:

B.A. Degrees - Double Majors of Commercial Art and Art Education with a minor in Instrumental Music.

M.A. Ed. in Community-Junior College Art Education from Central Oklahoma State University.

Professional Development:

I attend most KAEA - Kansas Art Education Association conferences each year with the last one being in Wichita, Kansas in 2013.

Current Position:

I have been in the Andover district since 1997 and have taught Drawing, Painting, and Intro to Art for eight years and Ceramics, Sculpture and Jewelry and Intro for twelve years.  Once Andover Central was built and opened in 2001, I had been a traveling teacher between Andover and Andover Central High Schools, but now I am FINALLY a FULL-TIME JAGUAR !!!

Previous Position:

Prior to working here in Andover, I worked at Putnam City High School as their foundations of art teacher in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for four years, then taught Commercial Art (Graphic Design) at Southwestern Oklahoma State University for three years.

I have also been an owner of Tags, Toons and Tees in both Towne East and Towne West Malls for 10 years, where I hand-painted personalized License Plates for peoples cars, drew Caricatures, and designed Custom T-shirts.

I also traveled all over the United States prior to that, working fairs, festivals, and trade shows doing Custom Auto Tags and drawing Caricatures as Tags, Toons, and Tees.  I have worked Darryl Starbirds Rod and Custom Shows for 25 years, and have pinstriped and custom hand lettered many a custom car, bike and low-rider.

I am lastly working my booths at the Kansas City Renaissance Fair doing Ye Olde Sand Art for our 25th year.  It is so relaxing and entertaining, spending the fall in the beautiful colored leaves, enjoying the sights, sounds and smells of the Renaissance Period!!!

Family Information:

I have two girls, the youngest graduated from AHS.

I have a 14 year old Sheltie named Dewey, three cats Heidi, Mandi and Lillie, a large tank (250 gallons) of fish, and a 6' Black and white Corn Snake named Spike.

Personal Information:

My hobbies are photography, painting and traveling. When I retire, I plan on getting some tattoos, getting a pink Mohawk, riding a three-wheeler all over America, and drawing caricatures of people to make a living.
